After correction of hypo- thyroidism (an endocrine cause of obesity and short stature) height velocity remained slow, which led to the continuation of laboratory research that culmi- nated in the diagnosis of growth hormone deficiency. An adequate orientation of patients is essential to identify risk factors and exclude pathological causes responsible for growth retardation so they can reach their full genetic height.
